Written by: Posted on: December 31, 1969 at 7:00PMPosted in: Main Topic

The Crab Festival is produced annually by the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce for the benefit of the residents of Kodiak Alaska. Crab Festival is a time for the community to celebrate its abundant resources from the sea. The Festival is traditionally held Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday (closing on Memorial Day).

It is the intent of the management to coordinate a variety of family oriented activities that will provide men, women and children a festive and fun recreational outlet. For the Kodiak business person and local nonprofit, the Crab Festival is intended to be a prosperous time to enhance their business/organization and raise needed revenues.

May 22-26 Kodiak Crab Festival activities include:

Crab Festival Predicted Mile at the Joe Floyd track

Survival Suit Races, 1 pm on Saturday

Parade, 10 am on Saturday

Pillar Mountain 1/2 Marathon

Kodiak Lions Club Arm Wrestling Contest

Discover Kodiak Chocolate Lover's Fling, Saturday at 7 pm

Many, many more activities and also lots of great food!
