Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Cathedral

The Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Cathedral was established in 1794 and elevated to Cathedral status in 2001. It is well known is one of the most recognized buildings in Kodiak and is a must see for most travelers that want to learn more about Kodiak and its fascinating history. The Cathedral is decorated with holy relics and a delicate lampada that burns constantly that was given to the Cathedral as a gift from His Holiness Patriarch Alexis II in 1993 during his stay on Kodiak Island. The Cathedral is closed most of the time excluding services that are held a few days a week but, when you are visiting, you may be able to call ahead of time to schedule an appointment to take a quick tour of the magnificent building.
