Driving "out the road" during your stay in Kodiak is very popular. It is a scenic drive that you will never forget. Starting from Women's Bay, you can still drive out the road to the next bay, which is Middle Bay. On your way to Middle Bay, you will encounter numerous things like rivers to fish in, or even some hiking trails. About a mile from the grocery store, you will drive over Salonie Creek, a great place to catch some silver salmon or pink salmon. Right after that, you will pass the Kodiak Island Sportsmen Association shooting range. After driving up the hill, about a mile after the shooting range, you will see a turn off area where you can overlook Women's Bay. It is a great place to take some amazing photos and print out for your family back home to see. About a half mile after, there will be the trail head to Heitman Lake, where you can catch some rainbow trout. You also can catch some rainbow trout by hiking through Dragonfly Lake, whose trail head is .3 miles from Heitman, and Horse Shoe Lake, whose trail head is .3 miles from Dragonfly Lake trail head. Then, about 3 miles after, will be Middle Bay.
