The purpose of the Kodiak Island Convention & Visitors Bureau
(KICVB) is to promote sustainable development of the visitor industry throughout
the Kodiak Island Borough. The KICVB encourages travel by the public to
and through the Kodiak Island Borough and maintains a continuing interest in
the well-being of visitors to the area.
The KICVB is a nonprofit organization.
It was founded in 1985 by a group of local business leaders.
KICVB is supported by two public funding partners, more
than 200 private sector memberships, and a variety of grants
and earned income. The City of Kodiak and the Kodiak
Island Borough fund KICVB through a transient accomodations
tax.
Collectively, KICVB's Public funding partners
and members represent a public-private partnership to
foster economic development throughout the Kodiak Island
Borough by promoting the area as a visitor destination.
